Axolotl self study

During block A and B in my third year at BUAS during the selfstudy days on fridays, with this project I wanted to explore with creature animation to see if it's something that I would like to pursue for my future career. This was a fun but very tough project, I couldn't find a lot of good reference video's of axolotls it made it hard for me to get the right feel in but this challenge was also what made it exiting to work on, to see how I would fill in the gaps that I missed in references.

I studied how a whale shark swims to get a good base for the swimming motion

After i studied the whale i translated that info onto the axolotl, and although the movement is a bit slow it does feel good

This was my first idle animation, after this i made some adjustments based on feedback that i got from my peers to make the animation pop a bit more

For the walk i found a good reference video of an axolotl walking and i reused the tail animation from the swimming to add some more life to him
